The Nordic Hotel Skåne is located in the center of Tallinn and named after the nearby Skåne bastion, a historic landmark. It was built as a hotel at the end of the 19th century and reconstructed in the 1920s. The building also survived bombardment during World War 2, when half of the residential areas of Tallinn were destroyed. In the Soviet times the house changed hands and served several functions. It was fully renovated as a hotel in 2003. The spacious lobby is decorated in a simple style, with polished floor boards and subdued colours, that is in keeping with the rest of the property. The 38 guest rooms are simply furnished but kept in good condition, as are the bathrooms. They offer a decent range of amenities for a hotel in this class. There are specially allotted rooms for smokers and for guest suffering allergies. The Skåne restaurant offers a range of regional Estonian and international cuisine.
